Right now, too many hardworking Arizonans pay too much in taxes, while a select few are able to take advantage of tax loopholes to pay too little. We need to see which tax loopholes fail to fulfill their purpose of stimulating the economy and eliminate those which fail to do so.

On h), we need to find an ideal medium. Businesses which follow the guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 should be given protection, but they shouldn't be given total carte blanche. Likewise, on c), there are some industries that should be regulated more and others that should be regulated less.

On b), there are some charter schools that serve the needs of their students well; as a teacher, I've seen areas where charter schools can be particularly helpful for certain students. However, the lack of accountability and transparency in the way we fund our charter schools is unsustainable and dangerous.

Additionally, we need to develop a sustainable water supply for our state. The Drought Contingency Plan was as good a stopgap as we could possibly have managed, but it is not permanent.

Another good idea to minimize gun deaths is laws around safe storage, a common-sense solution which the academic consensus shows prevent gun deaths among children and teens.

Additionally, we need to fill gaps in insurance coverage, such as hearing aids for children and dental care for pregnant people, and create a buy-in to our state's Medicaid program, AHCCCS, at little to no cost to taxpayers.

As part of the way towards c), we need to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. The theatrics our current legislative majority created to avoid ratifying it in this past term were ridiculous and shameful.
Our state faces a homelessness crisis that our state government should work to solve. We need to fully fund programs like 211 so that Arizonans in need can access and be aware of resources available to them. Additionally, we need to tighten the conflict of interest laws which currently govern Arizona legislators so that Arizonans can trust that their legislators are working towards the betterment of the state rather than their own enrichment.
My top legislative priority is a budget that shows that we prioritize strong public education and quality, affordable healthcare. We can fund such a budget by examining which tax cuts, loopholes, and giveaways currently in place are serving their purpose of stimulating our economy and which are not and eliminating those which do not. Currently, that process does not happen in Arizona.
